Our company received a contract to provide the Apple Iphone 6 to a West African government for upcoming elections. We shipped the product on 1/9/15 in a large, heavy duty container, pad locked and shrink wrapped. The value of the shipment was $49,600. The package was lost and found several times during shipment and by the time the package made it to the destination (over three weeks late), the container was open and the majority of goods lost. We wrote to FedEx and provided all receipts for the purchase of phones and pictures of the package and asked to be compensated for the loss of contents and for their negligence in maintaining the security of the package. Fedex offered $1000 because that was the declared value. We have never been able to enter into their shipping system a value greater than $1000 so for this shipment, we told the agent we needed full coverage when the package was dropped off for shipment. We were told not to worry about it from the agent and they would take care of it. Now we have no phones, no reimbursement and have been told we didn't take good enough care of the package. In other words, we are to blame. Does FedEx bear any responsibility for negligence and/or the loss of our goods?
